The Syrian Foreign Minister said that the early Sunday morning rocket attack by the Zionist regime on civilian areas in Damascus and its suburbs is a crime against humanity.

Iran PressMiddle East: Five Syrian citizens were martyred and 15 others were injured in the new air attack of the Zionist regime on areas of Damascus. In this airstrike, the fighter jets of the Israeli regime targeted areas of Damascus and its suburbs from the occupied Golan region.

In a meeting with ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions in Syria, Faisal al-Mekdad emphasized the necessity of condemning the aggression of the Zionist regime in order to prevent the killing of civilians and violation of the sovereignty of countries.

He also said: "The Zionist regime's missile attack on the civilian neighborhoods of Damascus and its suburbs, which resulted in the martyrdom of five people, injuring 15 civilians and destruction of houses, is a crime against humanity."

Syrian Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad said the strike should be considered a “crime against humanity” given it took place less than two weeks after the earthquake that killed more than 5,800 people across the country.

Mekdad further stated: "If the so-called international community does not stop Israel's criminal actions, this issue will encourage this country to commit more crimes and take more innocent lives."

The Syrian Foreign Minister noted that the continuation of brutal attacks and crimes by the terrorist occupying regime against the people of Palestine and Syria is a clear threat to the peace and security of the region and beyond. 219
