Iran Press/ Iran news: With 800 hectares of sweet cherry orchards, Oshnavieh is recognized as the cherry capital of Iran. Forty tons of cherry are estimated to be harvested from the orchards.
Different varieties of sweet cherry are produced in the city, including the clustered and black cherries varieties that have the major part of cultivation in Oshnavieh.
The taste, aroma, and translucent color of Oshnavieh cherries have caused the product to have its own customers inside and outside Iran (especially from Iraq's Kurdistan Region).
Oshnavieh is the capital city of Oshnavieh county, West Azerbaijan province in Iran. It is a neighbor of Turkey from the north and a neighbor of Iraq from the south.
With its beautiful nature and orchards, Oshnavieh is considered a tourist destination in northwestern Iran.
