Iran Press/ Europe: The German government announced the new measures as the country posted a record number of new COVID-19 cases. Rules on wearing face masks and on how many people can meet have been tightened.
The measures, which include limits on the number of people at private gatherings and a curfew for bars and restaurants in areas deemed hotspots, were agreed following an eight-hour meeting between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the country's 16 state premiers.
Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday ordered a nighttime curfew for Paris and eight other French cities to contain the spread of Covid-19 after daily new infection rates reached record levels.
Preventive measures have also been implemented in other European countries and regions including the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Catalonia, and many other parts of Europe.
In many cities of these countries, theatres, cinemas, galleries, museums, and zoos also closed their doors for at least two weeks.
According to the world meter's COVID-19 data, last updated on October 15, 2020, the whole coronavirus cases in the world have reached to 38,746,500, the deaths from the COVID-19 disease are 1,096,881, and 29,126,746 others have recovered.
