Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi said that strategic negotiations between Iraq and the United States, which began on Thursday, is based on the views of the Iraqi Maraji (religious leaders), the vote of the Parliament, and Iraq's needs.

Iran Press/Middle East: Strategic talks between Baghdad and Washington was launched on Thursday after months of tensions.

Tensions skyrocketed following a US strike on Baghdad in January that martyred Iranian top general Lt. Gen. Qasem Soleimani and Iraqi commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, prompting Iraqi legislators to vote in favor of ousting all foreign troops.
