Abuja (IP) - The leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, concluded a two-day celebration of the birth anniversary of Lady Fatima (as), daughter of the holy Prophet Muhammad, on Monday evening in Abuja.

Iran Press/Africa: During the first and second days of the event, different activities were conducted including a children's funfair, poems, and lectures on the life of Sayyeda Fatima (as) by Islamic scholars.

In his closing remark on the occasion in front of hundreds of participants, Sheikh Zakzaky talked about the virtues of Hazrat Fatima and called on the Muslim ummah especially women to take her life as their role model to tackle many issues including marital and socio-economic problems.

He also urged those unfamiliar with the history of Sayyeda Fatima to learn about her life from authentic scholars who truly understand the mother of Ahlulbayt, rather than making unfounded and potentially harmful remarks about her personality. In the conclusion of his speech at the event, Sheikh Zakzaky strongly lambasted the attitudes of Nigerian security personnel especially the police that include persecutions and denial of rights of religious gathering to members of the Islamic Movement.

Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky cautioned the Inspector General of Police who promised to prevent members of the Islamic Movement from conducting their religious activities despite that the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria guarantees all citizens rights of religion and peaceful assembly.

The leader of the Islamic Movement described the stance and statement of the Inspector General of Police as unguarded, unlawful, and an infringement upon the God-giving rights of the citizens.
