Tehran (IP) - The second national conference of Mayors and Islamic Council members on Passive Defence with the title of 'securing infrastructure and protecting people' kicked off at the Interior Ministry Conference Hall in Tehran on Saturday.

Iran Press/Iran News: In this conference Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali, the head of Iran's Passive Defense Organization, Jamalinejad Deputy interior minister, and Piruoz Hanachi, Tehran's mayor are taking part.

Head of Iran's Civil Defense Organization Brigadier General Gholamreza Jalali in this conference warned on waging a new war in the Persian Gulf and said if the war starts the countries who have started the war will face dire consequences, Iran Press reported.

Jalali who was speaking at 2nd National Conference of Mayors and Islamic Council members on Civil Defense said, "Iran has the upper hand against enemies' threats and authorities are trying to utilize all these conditions to serve the countries' national interest ".

"We have shaped a very good defensive deterrent in the military field. We saw a young officer sitting in the Persian Gulf surveilling the enemy drone, which means that the country's defense systems and military are perfectly robust, ready, and bravely are playing their role, and this has had many implications in the political and military dimensions", Jalali added.

In another part of the conference, Commander Taghizadeh deputy head of Defense minister said: Fortunately, we for 3 decades have been active in the defense and armed sectors.  The US and Israel's threats made us stronger. Now most of the US' interests in the region are under our target and they deeply know if they attack us we will respond heavier, they are wise enough not to do so, but in defending ourselves, we have to be stronger.
