Samarkand(IP)- The Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization(SCO) stressed that the regional position of the Islamic Republic of Iran as a powerful country with stability and security is important for the organization.

Iran PressAsia: Shanghai Cooperation Organization is an international intergovernmental organization established in June 2001 in Shanghai, China, by Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, and India and Pakistan joined this organization in June 2017.

On Wednesday night, during the meeting of the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Zhang Ming, with Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, a memorandum of commitments or arrangements for the accession of the Islamic Republic of Iran to this organization was signed.

After signing this document, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran stated that recently, all the documents related to the completion of the membership process of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Shanghai Organization were approved by the Council of Ministers and sent to the Islamic Council for review and legal procedures.
