Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said that the free trade agreement of the Eurasian Union with the Islamic Republic of Iran is a big step that creates great opportunities for the parties to increase the volume of mutual trade and cooperation.

Iran PressEurope: The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has clearly defined the strategy for cooperation between the member states of the association until 2045, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin said in an interview with TASS.

He added: "In reviewing the developments of this year, it is impossible not to pay attention to the significance of the Eurasian Union Free Trade Agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran, which was signed in December last year in St. Petersburg.

The Russian diplomat also stated: "This agreement provides great opportunities for member countries to increase the volume of mutual trade and strengthen cooperation."

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia added: "This agreement provides new and more favorable conditions for the entry of the Eurasian Economic Union into the Iranian market, and in return, Iranian goods, including food, will be available to the people of this union."

Previously, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized on February 2 that the Eurasian countries should finalize the necessary procedures for implementation of the free trade agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran as soon as possible.

The free trade agreement between Iran and the Eurasian Economic Union was signed on December 25, 2023, in a meeting attended by officials from 6 countries that are parties to the agreement in St. Petersburg, Russia. 219
