Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday the European country strongly condemns any foreign meddling in Iraq’s domestic affairs.

Iran PressEurope: "We categorically condemn any external interference in the internal affairs of your country, Mr. ambassador," Putin said at a ceremony in Kremlin where foreign ambassadors submitted their diplomatic credentials.

The president added that next year will mark 80 years since the establishment of official diplomatic ties between Russia and Iraq. According to Putin, "the Russian-Iraqi cooperation has a rich experience of mutually beneficial joint projects in various fields, including oil and gas."

"Over the past two years, bilateral trade has demonstrated steady growth, and the goal is to jointly maintain the positive dynamics of mutual trade, including through the diversification of economic cooperation," he said.

Putin added that relations between Russia and Oman are also steadily developing.

"During a recent telephone conversation with Sultan [Haytham bin Tarek] Al Said, pressing issues of Russian-Omani multifaceted cooperation were discussed in detail. Relevant Russian agencies and commercial organizations are aimed at intensifying work on expanding bilateral trade and investment ties, implementing major joint projects, including in agriculture and transport," the president said.
