Iran Press/ Europe: Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Brussels does not respect Belarus' domestic political realities and she called on the European Union to respect Belarus' domestic policies, as Sputnik reported.
Zakharova called possible EU sanctions against the Belarusian government contrary to the goals of stabilization and easing tensions in the country.
"Under international law, sanctions against Belarus are illegal and unacceptable interference in the internal affairs of the country," she said.
So far, many Western countries have tried to accuse Belarus of violating human rights by interfering in its internal affairs.
Following the August 9 presidential election in Belarus and the re-election of Alexander Lukashenko, supporters of Lukashenko's defeated rival Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya took to the streets of Belarus to protest against the election and clashed with police.
