Iran Press/ Middle East: Soleimani prevented ISIS from reaching the gates of Erbil during the fight against the ISIS terrorist group in Iraq when the authorities of the Iraqi Kurdistan Region asked him to help in the fight against ISIS.
The ceremony was held on Monday at the Consulate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil.
Nasrallah Rashnoodi, Consul General of Iran in Erbil, referred to the brilliant record of Martyr Soleimani in the fight against terrorists in the region, especially in Iraq, saying that Lt. Gen. Soleimani has forever remained in history and a role model for young people and freedom fighters in the world.
General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and PMU deputy head Muhandis were assassinated along with their companions in a U.S. drone strike authorized by President Donald Trump near Baghdad International Airport on January 3, 2020.
