Tehran (IP) - The regional contact group meeting for Afghanistan kicked off on Saturday morning in Tehran with the participation of special representatives of Iran, China, Russia, and Pakistan.

Iran PressIran news: The Assistance to the Iranian Foreign Minister Rasoul Mousavi published the news on his X account on Thursday and said that the Tehran meeting will convey a message of peace, stability, and development for Afghanistan and the region in the light of regional cooperation and integration.

Asif Ali Khan Durrani, the special representative of the Prime Minister of Pakistan for Afghanistan affairs, is scheduled to come to Tehran to participate in the meeting.

Iran stresses the establishment of an inclusive government in Afghanistan in which all parties and tribes play a role in administering the country. 

Strengthening ties with the regional countries, particularly the neighbors, is pivotal to the Islamic Republic's foreign policy.

Stability, Development of Afghanistan Ensured by Inclusive Government: Acting FM Message

 In the first part of the meeting on Afghanistan, which was held at the Research Center of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a message by Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri was read.

The message said that the ruling body of Afghanistan, before reaching power, emphasized the necessity of forming a government with the presence of all ethnic groups.

Ali Bagheri said that positive steps have been taken in this regard, but considering the diverse population of Afghanistan, the neighboring countries, and the region it is hoped that the political stability and economic development of Afghanistan will be ensured with the participation of more Afghan people from different ethnicities.

Afghanistan is located in a geographical area that can be a crossroad of East-West and North-South connection routes of the world, and in case such connections are established, a big step is taken in the national development of Afghanistan, the message added.

The message also took the responsibilities of the International bodies into consideration and said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran, while fully supporting constructive initiatives that can guarantee peace, stability, national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Afghanistan, believes that sustainable regional stability and security requires the UN to fulfill its duties toward Afghanistan.
