Iran's President stated that insulting the Holy Quran is disrespectful to all religions but also an insult to the human society, and considered it necessary to respect divine religions and holy books.

Iran PressAmerica: In the first event of the second day of Iranian President's trip to New York on Tuesday, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi met and talked with a group of religious leaders.

In this meeting, Iran's President considered respect for divine religions and holy books to be essential, and emphasized that insulting the Holy Quran is not only disrespectful to all religions, but an insult to the human society. He further said: "The question is, why do some western governments reduce insulting the Quran to freedom of expression and support the insulters?"

Emphasizing the importance of paying attention to the common points of divine religions, worshiping God, calling for the implementation of justice in human society and anti-tyranny, Raisi considered the main mission of the prophets as the guides of mankind and the common point of all divine religions.

Noting that no believer in divine religions can be oppressor, Raisi considered the oppression of the Palestinians by the Israeli regime to be unrelated to Judaism and said: "Jews have set of beliefs along with a holy book and do not issue any license to oppress."

Iranian president continued by emphasizing the importance of the role of religious leaders in spreading justice, confronting oppression and discrimination, and added: "We have always welcomed the dialogue between divine religions and we believe that the dialogue between religions will be of great help in clarifying the common points and using them for a better life."

Referring to the significant growth of attention to religion and spirituality across the globe, especially among the western youth, despite the extensive efforts being made to de-religionize them, Raisi considered politics minus spirituality to be the cause of  today's problems in human societies.

He stated: "The roots of the first and second world wars, conquests and separatism in today's world can be found in the distance between politics and spirituality."

In another part of his speech, attended by the religious leaders, Raisi emphasized that the solution to the Palestinian issue and the end of more than 70 years of oppression, occupation, killing and destruction towards the oppressed people of Palestine is to hold general election pariticipated by all Palestinians, including Muslims, Christians and Jews.

He added that the initiative proposed by the leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran in holding a referendum among the Palestinians to determine their fate and government, which has also been registered in the United Nations, is a fair way to solve the Palestinian crisis. 219
