Qatar refuses to accept Arab League presidency

The Qatari government has refused to accept the current presidency of the Arab League instead of Palestine.

Iran PressMiddle East: The Qatari government issued a statement on Friday saying Qatar could not accept a Palestinian successor who resigned from the presidency of the Arab League in protest of the normalization of relations between some Arab countries and the Zionist Regime, according to the website of the Arabi21 newspaper.

The Palestinian Authority on Tuesday relinquished its right to chair a new round of the Arab League Council in protest of the signing of an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

The UAE and Bahraini foreign ministers signed an agreement on September 15 to normalize relations with Israel in the presence of US President Donald Trump at the White House.

The UAE and Bahrain's attempt to normalize relations with the Zionist Regime has been widely criticized in the Islamic world.
