Iran Press/ Europe: Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in a virtual speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly on Tuesday the need to create "green corridors" for trade free of war and sanctions.
"Moscow is ready to take part in the fight against the coronavirus," Putin said, referring to the discovery of the coronavirus vaccine in Russia.
He suggested holding an online conference on the coronavirus vaccine, saying that the capacity of the World Health Organization should be strengthened.
Putin further stated: "Russia wants to unite its arms control efforts, and the international community must act together in accordance with the principles of the United Nations."
Russian President noted: "the issue of extending the new START treaty must be decided as soon as possible, as Russia wants to reach an agreement to ban space militarization."
The New START Treaty is a bilateral strategic arms reduction agreement between the United States and Russia signed in April 2010 between then-US President Barack Obama and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev in Prague.
Under the treaty, the two sides agreed to reduce their nuclear arsenal.
The contract expires on February 5, 2021.
