The Iranian President has stressed that ultimately the interior minister is responsible for management of the recent flood crisis, emphasizing that bureaucracy and red tape must not be allowed to hamper or slow down the participation of various organizations in relief and rescue efforts in flood-hit areas.

Iran Press/Iran newsIran’s president Hassan Rouhani has placed the interior minister in charge of directing and managing the relief and rescue efforts for flood-hit victims in Iran, saying that coordination, division of labour, reconstruction of damaged infrastructure, homes and buildings and taking precautionary steps to prevent future floods, are all the responsibilities of the Interior minister.

President Rouhani went on to say that all ministries, governmental organizations, and institutions the military and the police forces, the judicial bodies and the non-governmental public organizations are obliged to implement the orders and programs issued by the interior minister, reported Iran Press.

Iran’s president also stressed that “Planning must be in such a way that all forces and public non-governmental institutions’ efforts should have maximal effect. President Rouhani said bureaucracy and red tape must not be allowed to hamper or slow down the participation of various organizations in flood relief efforts.

The unprecedented rainfall in the last three weeks and the ensuing floods in various regions of north, west, south and southwestern Iran have caused a lot of damage and displaced tens of thousands of people.

The Forensic Medicine Organization of Iran declared on Saturday that in 13 flood-stricken provinces of Iran a total of 70 people have lost their lives as a result of recent flooding.103/211/203
