Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet ministers paid tribute to the late founder of the Islamic Revolution by visiting his mausoleum in south of Tehran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet ministers renewed allegiance with the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday on the eve of the anniversary of the Imam’s return to Iran from forced exile by the country’s ousted monarchical Pahlavi regime in Paris in 1979.

Iranian President was accompanied by Imam Khomeini's grandson Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, who is the custodian of the mausoleum, and with Iran's First Vice-President Es’hagh Jahangiri.

Iranians hold ten-day-long celebrations every year, starting with the anniversary of Imam Khomeini’s return and culminating in the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution’s victory.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime 40 years ago, on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchic rule in the country.

The Revolution, led by the late Imam Khomeini, established a new political system based on Islamic values and democracy. 102/201
