Iran Press/ Iran News: The January 2nd has been nominated as the 'Rasht Day' to appreciate the value of the historical city of Rasht, capital of Gilan province Northern Iran.
'Rasht Day' is the occasion that dates back to some 458 years ago when the city of Rasht was selected to be the political, cultural, social and economic center of Gilan Province.
The people of Rasht, commemorate 'Rasht Day' every year through holding special ceremonies which ha re cultural-artistic in nature. This year the occasion was also celebrated through contraction of a cultural passage in the city of Rasht tighter with some other cultural programs and cooking local cuisine.
Rasht is Iran's only city which has been recognized and registered by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as the significant city in terms of gastronomy among other 18 cities across the world. 207
