Khamir (IP) - Head of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization in a trip to southern Hormozgan Province visits and inspects the process of development and construction of multi-purpose historical 'Khamir Port'.

Iran Press/Iran news: Mohammad Rastad said 'Khamir Port' has a special place in boosting exports and regional trades.

He added that the development of 'Khamir Port' with absorbing investments has an efficient connection with growth and prospect of the surrounding region.

Phase 2 of construction and development of Khamir Port which is envisaged to be a multi-purpose port started last week in Hormozgan province bordering the Persian Gulf.

The project is a multipurpose new Khamir that is located about 2 km east of the current fishing quay in Bandar Khamir city of Hormozgan province.

The first phase of Khamir port project consists of the construction of a 620 m breakwater and an access bridge to berths and construction of multipurpose berths with a total length of 100 m. The fund procured for the first phase amounts to $ 20 million.

The project has been phased in three stages.

The main objective behind the construction of this multipurpose port is to provide necessary services to commercial and fishing vessels and encourage economic activities for local residents.

Khamir Port is located in 75 km to Bandar Abbas port with an ideal position from the fishing and commercial point of view. Construction of this port will contribute to economic prosperity in the region.
