Arbaeen pilgrimage, one of the world's largest religious gatherings, comes 40 days after Ashura, the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of Shia Muslims and the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
The Iranians who could not participate in the Arbaeen March in Iraq to go to Karbala started a walk on occasion in Iran' including in the capital Tehran.
Today, Safar 20, September 17, is the occasion of Arbaeen, which is 40 days after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions in Karbala.
In Tehran, the people started their rally from Imam Hussain (AS) Sq. and were gradually going toward Abdul Azim Hassani Shrine, south of Tehran, today, Saturday.
Like in Iraq, in Tehran also, Moukibs has been set up to welcome people with food, excellent syrups, and tea.
There are different religions in the world, and more than 80% of the world's population holds religious beliefs and is bound by faith. Each religion and religious sect has its ceremonies and rituals, and its followers have kept that religion alive by performing religious rites and ceremonies.
