Qazvin (IP) - The people of Qazvin, west of Tehran, annually before the night of Yalda, go to the traditional Bazaar of the city to buy fruits, nuts, and sweets to celebrate the occasion.

Iran PressIran News: 'Yalda Night' is a popular occasion with roots in ancient Iran, a tradition to gather people and make their hearts close to each other.

People of Qazvin celebrate the occasion of Yalda through making the gathering in the house of the elderly of their families, but this Yalda, like in recent years, has some restrictions due to the pandemic of Coronavirus.

According to the tradition, Iranian believe that eating watermelon and other red fruits such as pomegranate and persimmon in Yalda night will bring a more blissful winter for them.

In Iran, the last night of autumn and the year's longest night is called Yalda night.

Falling on December 21 this year, Yalda arrived simultaneously when Iran Health Ministry reported that detected the first case of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus.
