Iran Press/West Asia: The Arbaeen, or the 40 days after Ashura, commemorates the martyrdom of Prophet Mohammed's grandson, Imam Hussain, who was martyred by the army of Yazid I in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD on the 10th day of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar.
Iraqi and Iranian Pilgrims along with pilgrims from other countries reached Karbala after the Arbaeen March and started mourning for the occasion after the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (a), showing their loyalty to Imam Hussain's (a) path.
The lovers and followers of Imam Hussain (a), either Muslim or non-Muslim, take part in the Arbaeen March to commemorate the occasion.
Arbaeen rituals and what is going on in the path of the march is an outline of the time the Promised Savior Imam Mahdi (a), the son of Imam Hussain (a) will reappear.
