The remarks by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in his meeting with the Iranian 14th administration's cabinet indicated his promotive attitude toward having relations with enemies.

Iran PressCommentary: Receiving the cabinet members on Tuesday, Ayatollah Khamenei discussed a series of his demands with them, including those put in the category of the foreign policy of the country and making relations with enemies.

Stressing that the administration should not wait for the approval of the enemies in the foreign policy arena, Ayatollah Khamenei told President Masoud Pezeshkian and his team: "This reality was also evident in the remarks of the President and the statements of the Foreign Minister a few days ago. Of course, this does not mean that we cannot interact with the same enemy in certain situations. There is no harm in that, but do not place your hopes in them. Do not trust the enemy.”

The remark has three different points; the first point is where he said "Do not trust the enemy." The point indicates a realistic view of foreign policy as any country seeks its own interests, and so does the enemy not only to secure its own interests but also to create obstacles so that its rival's interest is not ensured.

In the past 45 years, times and again it has been proven that the enemies do not decrease their enmity with the Islamic Republic of Iran, but even they have taken steps towards increasing the enmity. The cruel sanctions against Iran are clear evidence of the enemies' efforts to hamper the progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Still, whenever the enemy was trusted by the Iranian officials, the expected result was failed to be achieved, but the enemy also abused the trust, a clear example of which happened in the JCPOA, where Iran fulfilled its commitment toward the agreement but the US unilaterally withdrew it and the European side did nothing to fulfil the Islamic Republic's demands.

The second point dealt with the fact that the administration must not wait for the enemies' approval so that it implement its progress plans. This emphasis, on the one hand, indicates the necessity of the independence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in decision-making, and on the other hand, it indicates the need to consider the country's domestic resources. The Islamic Republic of Iran has more than 7% of the world's mineral reserves.

Ayatollah Khamenei referred in the Second Step of the Islamic Revolution Statement to the intact natural and human capacities of Iran and said that a major part of the resources have remained unused due to the ignorance of the authorities. The situation suggests that Iran needs no approval and admission from the enemies' side.

Also, the third part refers to the point where the Leader of the Islamic Revolution said: "… this does not mean that we cannot interact with the same enemy in certain situations."

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution warns the administration about the enemy's tricks, but he emphasizes that the way to negotiate with the very enemy is not closed in case the enemy fulfills respect for Iran.
