Iran Press/ America: Iran's Ambassador to the UN, Majid Takht-Ravanchi added in an interview about today's Security Council meeting: "The general atmosphere of the international community is for the implementation of the JCPOA and Resolution 2231. It is a clear contradiction of the American position."
Today's meeting of the Security Council will be held on the agenda of the UN Secretary-General's report on Resolution 2231.
Referring to the US withdrawal from the JCPOA, the ambassador said: "There is no record of a permanent member of the Security Council taking action against the resolutions it has drafted by itself and punishing the countries that want to implement them. This indicates the chaos in the international system that the Americans are looking for."
"I think in today's meeting, both member countries and the Secretary-General will ask implementation of JCPOA and Resolution 2231, which the United States is not interested in hearing," he said.
"The main purpose of the arms embargo is to eliminate the JCPOA," The diplomat said of the US main goal in pursuing arms extensions."
Speaking about the purpose of the resolution of the Board of governors, which was proposed by three European countries, the Ambassador said, adding: "The resolution was based on a series of false claims."
Regarding the meeting the US Special Representative for Iran Brian Hook, with other members of the Security Council last Wednesday, the Iranian ambassador to the United Nations said: "This meeting was held informally and at the invitation of the US delegation justifying the need to continue the arms embargo against Iran." 212/ 107
