Envoy:

Geneva (IP) - Responding to an anti-Iran report by the UN Human Rights Council, Iran's ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva said that the document was based on a purely political agenda and a large amount of inaccurate information and false statements.

Iran PressEurope: Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh reminded at the 47th session of the Human Rights Council that the Islamic Republic of Iran is fully committed to the protection and promotion of human rights and respects its international obligations, and accordingly, yesterday it submitted its fourth national report on the implementation of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights to the Human Rights Committee.

Baghaei Hamaneh added: "We call on all countries to adhere to the principles of universality, neutrality, and non-selectivity in dealing with human rights issues and eliminating double standards and political work."

Baghaei Hamaneh stressed: "The Iranian people have shown maximum resistance to the coercive, unilateral, and brutal actions of the former US regime, which has been used as a strategy to put maximum pressure on the Iranian people, and the United States continues the illegal and inhumane legacy of the former administration, which is completely contrary to international law and the fundamental principles concerning humanity."

"The United States, its supporters, and the countries that are taking Washington unilateral and coercive measures against Iran must be held accountable for widespread human rights abuses," Baghaei Hamaneh highlighted.
