Tehran(IP)- The Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that establishing dialogue, COOP forum among Persian Gulf countries was one of the issues raised and discussed with the Saudi officials.

Iran PressIran News:  Speaking at his weekly presser on Monday morning the Spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that The Iranian Foreign Minister's visit to Riyadh was at the invitation of the Saudi Foreign Minister.

Nasser Kaani further said that  After about 7 years of broken relations, there are many topics to talk about.

According to Kanaani: "Bilateral issues and economic and commercial issues were raised. The creation of establishing dialogue COOP forum among Persian Gulf countries was one of the issues raised. This idea was raised with the officials of the Persian Gulf countries, and this topic and idea were discussed with the Saudi officials.

"Iran expressed its views on this idea and brought it to Riyadh's attention and said that they will investigate the matter." Stated Kanaani

Kanaani further said: "Forming such a forum is a process and the views of other partner parties should be taken and reviewed."

Iran's Top Diplomat further elaborated: "With the positive atmosphere that we see in the region, we can say that we are actually on the path of dialogue and exchange of views, and the next steps can provide the basis for the establishment of such a forum."

Nasser Kanaani also said: "In this trip, economic issues were also discussed. There was a discussion about the reactivation of the existing agreement between the two countries and the resumption of negotiations for the conclusion of new documents needed in the process of developing bilateral cooperation, including cooperation in economic and commercial fields, mutual support for customs investment and avoiding double taxation. Both sides agreed and wanted to hold a meeting of the joint commission between the two countries as soon as possible."

The Saudi side renewed and emphasized the invitation of the King of Saudi Arabia to President Raisi, and there is a consensus that within the framework of bilateral cooperation, the necessary grounds for this trip will be provided at the appropriate time.

Iran to participate in Afghanistan meeting in Moscow

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman also announced a meeting to be held in Moscow to resolve Afghanistan's issues soon.

Kanaani said that the Moscow meeting will be held in a month to address Afghanistan, and Iran will also participate in it, adding that Russia, as the host of the meeting, has invited the Taliban to participate.

He also said: "Our main focus is to address the challenges in Afghanistan and enhance security by establishing an inclusive government; this is a requirement that applies globally."

"We believe that the only way to get Afghanistan out of instability is to start inter-Afghan talks to form an inclusive government, and we are ready to help," he pointed out. 

Iran not compromises over nation's money blocked

 

Elsewher, Kanaani talked about the Iranian asserts recently released and stressed that the government did not compromise in preserving the rights of the Iranian nation over the unblocking of the people's money blocked in South Korea by the US.

In response to a question of whether Iran would pursue a part of the money lost while being transferred from South Korea, Nasser Kanaani said: "Officials presented the necessary explanations regarding the exact amount and financial claims and how to convert them from the Korean currency to other currencies."

Kanaani said that while the US was trying to block Iran's business with the world, it forced the US government to obey the legitimate demands of the Iranian people.

The money unblocked was the South Korean government's debt to Iran, he noted and said that the process of the transferring of the assets is going on well. 

Still, he referred to the Iraqi government's debt to Iran and the money blocked by the US in the country and stated that the process of releasing the money has begun. 

The presence of US forces in Syria is illegal

The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Syrian government has said that the presence of these forces in Syrian territory is an occupation and has no legal or international basis.

The Syrian government wants to end the occupation of the US government. Iran's presence in Syria is at the request of the official and legal and established government of Syria and in the framework of cooperation to counter terrorism and consultancy, Kanaani said.

He noted: "The actions that the US government is taking inside Syria, against Syria and other forces helping Syria, are illegal and against international regulations, and the Syrian government will react."

He stated that the continued occupation of the US forces inside Syria has provided a basis for intensifying the actions of terrorist groups.
