Iran Press/ Africa: Nigeria's Jaish Sayyid Ahmad group is named after Ahmad Zakzaky, who was killed by security forces in 2015 during a Quds Day protest in Zaria, Northern Nigeria. Zakzaky was the son of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria.
At a symposium held in Bauchi on Friday evening, Islamic scholars and intellectuals gathered to discuss the lives and legacies of Quds martyrs. The event featured speeches commemorating former IRGC Quds Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces, as well as Hamas leaders Ismail Haniyah and Yahya Sinwar, who were martyred by the Israeli regime. Also remembered was Shahid Ahmad Ibrahim Zakzaky.
Adding to the voices at the Bauchi symposium, Sheikh Abdullahi Ashura offered a historical perspective, speaking on the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the origins of Palestinian resistance.
Biased Western Media
Muhammad N Yalwa also addressed the gathering, briefly discussing what he characterized as bias in Western media and emphasizing the importance of seeking out independent sources of information. Additionally, Ummul Khair Muhammad, a female Islamic scholar, focused her remarks on the lessons women could draw from the lives of those honored as martyrs of the Palestinian cause.
Sheikh Ahmad Yusuf Yashi, a senior member of the Islamic Movement, graced the occasion and commended the Nigerian Muslim youth for organizing the symposium.
He further encouraged the young attendees to embody the lessons learned from the lives of the commemorated figures, who, he said, had fulfilled their promises during their lifetimes.
Special prayers were offered for the repose of the souls of the martyrs.
