Niamey (IP) - The Niger women, following men, staged a rally to support the country's new political status.

Iran PressAfrica: Nigerian women protested in Niamey, chanting slogans against France and the U.S. and calling for the withdrawal of foreign forces from their country, as Iran Press correspondent reported. Niger women then gathered in front of the French Military Base in Niamey, warning about any probable military action in their country, stressing that they were fighting against Western imperialism to preserve the independence of Niger.

During a two-day meeting on August 17 and 18 in Accra, the capital of Ghana, defense chiefs of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) prioritized peaceful action as their solution for the Niger crisis, with military action being seen as a last resort. Nigerians oppose possible ECOWAS military action supported by France and the U.S. in their country. They also support their new military commanders to defend their country.
