London (IP) - Muslims across the UK hold Muharram Rituals in mosques and local Hussainyehs in commemoration of Imam Hussain and his companions who were martyred on Ashura day.

Iran Press/Europe: In the Islamic Center of England in London, one of the main centers of the Muslim community of different nationalities, Muslims and lovers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) attend special rituals on the nights of Muharram.

In these rituals, in addition to Iranians, different nationalities such as English, Afghan, Iraqi, Indian, Pakistani, Bahraini, Lebanese and Kuwaiti gather to mourn for Imam Hussein (AS).
Hashem Mousavi, the head of the Islamic Center of England, gave a speech in Persian and English, while introducing the character of Imam Hussein (AS), and explained the philosophy of the uprising of the world's free people against oppressors and tyrants.

Imam Hussein, the third Imam of Shia Islam, was martyred along with his family and companions during the Battle of Karbala in the 61st year after the migration of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) from Mecca to Medina. The Ashura, the tenth day of Muharram, is a day of profound significance for Shia Muslims worldwide, as it commemorates this tragic event.
