Russia's deputy FM Sergey Ryabkov has cautioned Washington against further attempts to tap Russia’s assets or take steps that escalate the Ukraine conflict

Iran Press/Europe: Moscow may cut diplomatic relations with Washington if the United States continues its hostile policies toward Russia, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov warned in an interview with the news outlet Izvestia published on Saturday. The diplomat stated that any actions taken by the U.S. that could escalate the conflict in Ukraine might justify severing ties.

In June, Ryabkov had already cautioned that Washington's increasingly aggressive stance toward Russia was making diplomatic communication almost impossible. When asked for clarification, he emphasized that while no scenario would lead Russia to "automatically" sever ties with the West, this option is definitely on the table.

"We never take escalatory steps of this kind without provocation, but I acknowledge that this action could be considered if the West discards the last remnants of decency in its attempts to pressure us," he remarked.
