Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign ministry spokesman strongly rejected and condemned the claims made in the joint statement of Germany, France and the UK regarding the use of Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine.

Iran PressIran News: European Union countries have adopted sanctions on Iran over claims that Iranian-made drones were supplied to Russia and used in attacks on Ukraine. Iran and Russia have rejected baseless allegations that Tehran supplied Moscow with a fleet of drones for use in the war in Ukraine.

Nasser Kanaani, on Saturday, strongly rejected and condemned the action of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the European Union and the British government in imposing new sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran, on the false and baseless excuses of using Iranian drones in the war in Ukraine and the claims made in the joint statement of Germany, France and UK in this regard.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran rejected the baseless claims about the transfer of drones for use in the conflict in Ukraine.

Kanaani added: "We have always emphasized that all members of the United Nations must fully respect the goals and principles contained in the United Nations Charter and international law, including the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of countries."

The spokesman noted: "We support peace and an immediate end to the war in Ukraine through a political process."

Kanaani stated: "In continuation of their irresponsible, destructive and illegal actions to create a poisoned political atmosphere against the Islamic Republic of Iran, they are trying to present a misleading interpretation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and establish a connection between their baseless claims and Resolution 2231. This is while the issues surrounding the current conflict in Ukraine are completely unrelated to Resolution 2231."

Explaining the deception of the European parties, Kanaani said: "The great nation of Iran will never forget that some European countries are complicit in Saddam Hussein's crimes against the Islamic Republic of Iran by sending weapons of mass destruction to Iraq, including chemical weapons during the eight-year imposed war, and the Islamic Republic of Iran also considers those countries as accomplices of Saddam Hussein's crimes and holds them responsible and accountable."

Kanaani stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran considers the current provocative approaches of the European Union and the United Kingdom to be part of a targeted political scenario and contrary to their absurd and hypocritical claims to help peace and stable stability in the world."

The spokesman, describing the European Union's actions in the last few days as destructive, stated: "The government of the Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to respond to any irresponsible action in order to protect the national interests and secure the rights of the honorable people of Iran."
