Britain’s Conservative Party picked Liz Truss as its leader, triggering the beginning of a handover from Boris Johnson.

Iran PressEurope: Liz Truss was named as Britain's next prime minister on Monday, winning a leadership race for the governing Conservative party at a time when the country faces a cost of living crisis, industrial unrest, and a recession.

After weeks of an often bad-tempered and divisive leadership contest that saw the foreign minister face off against former finance minister Rishi Sunak, Truss came out on top in a vote of Conservative Party members.

Earlier, Nicola Sturgeon, the leader of the Scottish National Party, said in his latest reaction to Liz Truss: "If she wants to run the country the way she ran her election campaign, it will be a disaster not only for Scotland but for the whole of Britain." because she focuses on the interests of the "Conservative Party" and its members rather than British issues.
