Tehran (IP) - In his remarks on Wednesday, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has called on Iranians who love Islam, the Islamic Republic, and the progress of Iran to demonstrate their support by participating in the upcoming presidential runoff election.

Iran PressIran news: Ayatollah Khamenei emphasized the importance of the second phase of the presidential election, stating that those who did not vote in the first round should not be considered as being against the system. The Leader stressed that the people are the backbone of the Islamic Republic, and better voter turnout will enable the country to realize its objectives.

The snap presidential election in Iran was arranged following the martyrdom of President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 19. As no candidate secured a majority in the first round held on June 28, a runoff vote will be held on July 5 between Saeed Jalili and Masoud Pezeshkian.

Ayatollah Khamenei's call for widespread participation in the runoff election underscores the significance of the democratic process in Iran.

He added: I have said many times that people's participation in elections is a support for the Islamic Republic of Iran and will make it proud. If the people have better participation, the Islamic Republic system will be able to realize its words both inside the country and in the context of strategic goals of the country, and this is a very big opportunity for the country.
