Tehran (IP) - In commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, Iran is set to hold a special gathering led by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei. General Soleimani, the late commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), remains a symbol of resistance and national pride for many Iranians.

Iran Press/Iran news: The event will take place on Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025, at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiyah in Tehran. Families of Martyr Soleimani, his companions, and the victims of the terrorist attack on last year's commemoration ceremony in Kerman are expected to meet with the Leader.

The ceremony will also be attended by a broader audience, including families of martyrs, veterans, and key figures from the resistance movement. They will listen to a speech by Ayatollah Khamenei.

General Soleimani, the commander of Iran’s Quds Force, along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU), and their companions were assassinated in a US drone strike authorized by then-President Trump in Iraq on January 3, 2020.
