Iran Press/ Iran News: The anniversary of Hazrat Zainab's (PBUH) birthday has been named as "Nurse Day" in Iran. Hazrat Zainab (peace be upon her) is the granddaughter of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Prophet Mohammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) and the daughter of the first Shia Imam Ali (peace be upon him).
In commemoration of the efforts of all nurses whom Zainab (PBUH) is the ultimate symbol on this day a group of nurses met with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
Hazrat Zainab (PBUH) is the sister of Imam Hossein, the third Shia Imam, who accompanied the Imam on the day of Ashura in the desert of Karbala.
Imam Hussein was martyred along with 72 of his family members and companions in 680 A.D. in a land that is known today as Iraq, after they refused to pledge allegiance to the ruler of the time, Yazid.
After Imam Hussein, his sister alone shouldered the burden of exposing the real nature of tyrant Yazid and Umavid dynasty, and conveying the message of Imam Hossein (PBUH) to the world. She also cared for the orphaned children of Imam Hossein (PBUH) and other martyrs as well as nursing Imam Hossein's son and the fourth Shia Imam, Ali, known as Imam Sajjad or Imam Zein-ol-Abedin (PBUH). 101/211/219
