Iran Press/Iran news: Several high-ranking Iranian officials, including President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, Secretary of the Guardian Council Ahmad Jannati, also attended the ceremony.
The funeral procession of Ayatollah Mahmoud Hashemi Shahroudi started at 8 am (local time) on Wednesday morning in Mossalla of Imam Khomeini in central Tehran, Iran Press reported.
After a long battle with disease, Ayatollah Shahroudi died at the age of 70 on Monday night (24 December).
Shahroudi was born in Najaf, Iraq, in 1948 and had served as a member of the Guardian Council since 1994. He was also judiciary chief and member of Experts Council. As of 2017, he was also the chairman of the Expediency Council. 101/ 211 /202
