Mashhad (IP) - On Sunday evening, the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan arrived in the northeastern holy city of Mashhad, the central city of Khorasan Razavi Province to attend the 28th meeting of the foreign ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) member states.

The 28th edition of the ECO Foreign Ministerial meeting will be held from the 2nd of December for two days with the participation of 20 delegations including ECO foreign ministers ECO senior officials and directors of the regional specialized departments of the organization, as well as secretaries general of a number of multilateral economic organizations.

The meeting will be chaired by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Iran is holding the rotating presidency of the ECO 2024 meeting.

The ECO is an Asian political and economic intergovernmental organization founded in 1985 in Tehran by the leaders of Iran, Pakistan, and Türkiye. The bloc provides a platform to discuss ways to improve development and promote trade and investment opportunities.

Established in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan, and Turkey, the ECO is a regional intergovernmental organization aimed at fostering economic and cultural cooperation among member states.

In 1992, its membership expanded to include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, bringing the total to 10 member countries.
