Kashmiri cleric:

Kashmir (IP) - The leader of the Shia people in the Indian-controlled Kashmir region said that Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions got martyred in Karbala to save humanity from oppression.

Iran PressAsia: In an interview, Masrour Abbas Ansari told Iran Press correspondent the importance of Ashura upraise and noted that Imam Hussain (AS) and his companions made eternal self-sacrifices in Karbala. 

Ansari said that the purpose of Muharram mourning is to learn the lessons of the Karbala event and Ashura praise, the primary goal of which was to emancipate people from the world's oppressors. 

The Kashmiri top cleric said that Imam Hussain (AS) sacrificed himself, his family, and his 72 companions to realize his goal: "The betterment of humanity."

He reiterated that the purpose behind the mourning in Muharram month is to keep alive Imam Hussain's (AS) thoughts to liberate the people of the world from tyranny and tyrants.
