Tehran (IP) - Referring to the US's use of atomic bombs in Hiroshima and Nagasaki and its support for the nuclear weapons of the Israeli regime, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the US, with a dark history of using nukes, can not be the standard flag bearer for the prohibition of the spread of nuclear weapons in the world.

Iran PressIran news: Today (Sunday), August 6, 1945, is the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, which was carried out during World War II by order of the President of the United States, Harry Truman, and three days later, on August 9, another atomic bomb was used in Nagasaki.

About 220,000 people died as a result of these two atomic bombings.

More than one hundred thousand people were killed at the same time by the bombing; the rest died by the end of 1945 due to the destructive effects of radioactive radiation.

At 8:15 a.m. on August 6, 1945, the American B-29 bomber dropped the "Little Boy" atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima.

Every year on August 10th, a ceremony to commemorate the victims of the atomic bombings is held in the Nagasaki War Memorial Park, and at the end of the ceremony, the Prime Minister of Japan emphasizes the move toward a world free of nuclear weapons by reading a resolution.

In this regard, "Nasser Kanaani Chafi", the spokesperson of Iran's diplomatic system, today (Sunday) and on the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, posted pictures of the atomic bombing of Japan in a tweet and wrote in English:

"U.S.A is the only govt. with a dark history of using nukes as a WMD & aiding an illegitimate regime with the largest nuclear arsenal."

Kanaani poses the question, "Is it fit to be the flag bearer of a nuclear weapons ban!!?" He pointed to the baseless claims of the United States about Iran's peaceful nuclear program and added: "Its’ claims about Iran’s nuclear program are a deliberate repetition of a big lie."

"The international community and organizations should provide full protection for the Palestinians and particularly Palestinian children immediately and hold the Israelis and their Western supporters, accountable for their crimes." added he

"While some UN officials worry about the delay for the start of Palestinian children's schools in Lebanon, according to the Accountability Program at Defense for Children International, the Zionist regime has killed 31 children in the West Bank and 6 in the Gaza Strip only in 2023," concluded he.
