IRIB World Service Sahab Network, as one of the special missions of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) World Service celebrated its first year of operation achieving its aticipated goals. In this ceremony, IRIB Chief inaugurated the Turkish Press TV and Portuguese Hispan TV.

The big picture: Established on 21 January 2023, the Sahab Network marked a new initiative by the IRIB's international office to shape an accurate perception of Iran among global audiences. Emphasizing storytelling across online radio channels, the network aimed to develop and execute media sub-projects and large-scale initiatives aligned with policy objectives across 27 language services.

The network showcases content centered around the Iranian narrative across various domains such as cultural, social, epistemological, ideological, historical, political, economic, and progress-related topics. Additionally, it addresses regional and global issues. The content presentation follows suitable and standard web and social media formats. In some priority languages, the network uses Internet television, and in some languages, it uses online radio or frequency radio to broadcast its produced content.

  • The Head of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Peyman Jebeli views the establishment of the Sahab network as aligning with technological advancements in media, leading to increased dissemination and impact of international media messages in various languages across target countries. Jebeli also revealed the inauguration of Turkish Press TV and Portuguese Hispan TV network of the at IRIB World Service, which previously operated solely in Spanish. Jebeli highlighted that Portuguese-speaking African and European nations, particularly Brazil, will benefit from this expansion.

Along with German, Spanish, Albanian, English, Italian, French, Swahili, Hausa, Bengali, Japanese, Chinese, Malay, Hindi, Istanbul Turkish, Armenian, Kazakh, Azeri, Assyrian, Tajik, Turkmen, Arabic, Hebrew, and Pashto, they have been operating in the formats of radio broadcasts, internet radios, news websites, and internet television since the middle of last year with a new approach and under the title of the Sahab network.
