Tehran (IP) - The Chief of the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) announced the shipment of 40 tons of humanitarian items to help the flood-hit victims of Libya.

Iran PressIran News: Pir-Hossein Kolivand said: "A 40-ton humanitarian cargo of the Red Crescent Society of Iran, including relief tents, blankets, carpets, sanitary items and food packages, was sent to help the flood-hit victims in Libya on Friday."

He added: "Three rescue teams of the Red Crescent Society were sent to Libya with this cargo to help and distribute the items."

Referring to the humanitarian and religious duty to help the victims and the needy, the chief of the Red Crescent Society said: "The IRCS, as a member of the international movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent populations, also does what it can to help victims of accidents around the world as other national populations helped us in important events, such as the Bam earthquake, the Kermanshah earthquake, and the nationwide flood of 2019 in Iran." 

The chief of the Iranian Red Crescent Society had previously announced his readiness to send medical teams and send relief items to the flood-hit victims of Derna city and the victims of Hurricane Daniel by sending an official letter to the Libyan Red Crescent and sending the humanitarian cargo based on the declaration of need for Libya has been sent."

On Monday, the cities of eastern Libya witnessed the terrible flooding and storm "Daniel", as a result of which thousands of people have lost their lives or been displaced.
