Gov't spox:

Tehran (IP) - Spokesman of Iran's government says as the Iranian people recaptured Khorramshahr during the 8-year Iran-Iraq war, they would break the US sanctions.

Iran PressIran news: In his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Ali Rabiee pointed to the anniversary of Khorramshahr's liberation during the 8-year Iran-Iraq war and said today, the US has raged an economic war against Iranians by imposing sanctions today and that as the Iranian people recaptured Khorramshahr, they would break the sanctions. 

He reiterated the need to renew the national unity and awareness so that the sanctions siege could be broken.

Rabiee added that minimal participation in the upcoming presidential election is in the interest of no one, and the first losers are the people.

 

He said the government profoundly believes that it was a duty of rulers to foster the conditions for people's political participation as a civil right. 

He noted that the government wanted all institutions involved in the election process to consider national unity and ensure the country's continuation of stability, security, and progress of boosting the spirit of participation in the election.
