Iran Press/ Iran News: Attending Mehran international border crossing, Iran Press' reporter has taken footage from pilgrims from different strata of people aiming to participate in the great Arbaeen March.
Every pilgrim moves towards Karbala wearing black to mark Arbaeen, a longstanding tradition in Islam, which marks the fortieth day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein, the grandson of Prophet Mohammad. Imam Hussein was martyred 14 centuries ago by the second Umayyad Caliph, Yazid Ibn Muawiyah.
Every year on Arbaeen, millions of pilgrims from different countries travel tens of kilometers on foot to get to Imam Hussein's shrine.
In the meantime, health and treatment facilities have been established at the Mehran border crossing to provide services to Arbaeen pilgrims if needed.
Also, according to the announcement of the customs of Ilam Province, 750 trucks and other heavy vehicles carrying items and supplies entered the territory of Iraq from the border of Mehran to provide services to the pilgrims on the route of Arbaeen March.
Due to its proximity to Najaf and Karbala, Mehran is the most important border crossing for pilgrims to attend the Arbaeen March.
