(IP)- Iran's 65 and 97 kg-weight freestyle wrestlers Mohammad Reza Shakeri and Abolfazl Babaloo won two gold medals at the U20 World Championships in Amman city of Jordan.

Iran Press/Middle East:  The 2023 World Junior Wrestling Championship is held in Amman, Jordan.

Mohammad Reza Shakeri won the gold medal in the 65 kg weight category.

After taking a break in the first round, Mohammad Reza Shakeri defeated Philip Mila from Spain in the second round with a score of 10:0.

In the following rounds, Shakeri defeated Kaiji Ogino from Japan 6-0 and Dalgat Abdulkadyrov from Russia 11-8, advancing to the final.

The Iranian representative defeated Jesse Mendez from the U.S. with a score of 5:2 in the final, earning a gold medal.

The World Junior Wrestling Championship started on August 14 in Amman, Jordan, and will run until August 20.

Moreover, Iran's third finalist of the night was U20 Asian champion Abolfazl Babaloo, who stepped up and made it to the 97kg gold medal bout.

The competitions will resume tomorrow in Amman, Jordan, where Iranians will see their nationals compete for more golds respectively.
