The Iranian Minister of Youth and Sports met with the Head of the World's Wrestling Union (WWU) and discussed several issues including Iran's hosting of wrestling contests.

Iran PressEurope: On the sidelines of the meeting held on Saturday in Belgrade, the Iranian minister Kiumarth Hashemi said Iran's membership of Iran in the WWU's presiding board and its share of the world's wrestling as the senior son of the WWU were among the issues discussed with Nina Lalovic.

Hashemi said that given that Iran has the Olympic Games ahead next year and the importance of wrestling in Iranian sports, which is always the main burden of winning medals in Iranian sports, he held the meeting with Lalovic, where good issues were raised.

He added that Iran will support the World's Wrestling Union, and expressed hope that issues agreed on will be implemented.

The Head of the WWU, for his part, said that during the meeting challenges were discussed which the world's wrestling and Iran's are coping with.

The possibility of Iran's hosting international competitions and its participation in the WWU were discussed and good results were achieved, Lalovic said.

He said that the world's wrestling has 189 pillars and described Iran as the strongest pillar among them, appreciating the Iranian officials, especially the President of the Islamic Republic, because they support wrestling.

The Head of the Iranian Federation of Wresting Alireza Dabeer also was present at the meeting.
