Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister ad his Saudi Arabian counterpart held a joint press conference on Saturday where both sides stated the issues they agreed upon in their meeting.

Iran PressIran News: The Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has held a joint press conference with his Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan. 

Amir-Abdollahian and his Saudi Arabian counterpart stressed efforts to maintain the security of the region, including marine security in their joint press conference on Saturday.

Amir-Abdollahian told reporters that he discussed such issues as the fight against the trafficking of narcotics, environmental issues, and joint investments by the two countries' private sectors.

Preparing grounds for the Saudi nationals to visit the tourist and religious sites of Iran, transportation, and scientific cooperation was among the other areas of discussion between the Iranian and Saudi foreign ministers. 

He stressed the Palestinian issue and noted that the two countries believe that the settlement of the Palestinian issue is the top priority of the Islamic world while expressing concern over the Sudanese war and what is going on in the country.   

 

 

The Saudi diplomat, Faisal bin Farhan, for his part, called for the continuation of the diplomatic ties with the opening of the embassies and other diplomatic sites of the two countries. 

Bin Farhan appreciated Iran for facilitating the activities of Saudi diplomatic missions in Iran and stressed that the reconciliation of Iran and Saudi Arabi, as the two important countries of the region, would have a constructive effect on the nations, the region, the Islamic world, and the entire globe. 

He also called for the expansion of economic, cultural, and political ties and put emphasis on respect for the UN Charter and no intervention in the domestic affairs of the countries. 

Faisal bin Farhan still highlighted the two countries' cooperation to ensure marine security for the regional countries and their commitment to the treaty of non-proliferation of mass destruction weapons.

The Saudi FM conveyed the Saudi King's invitation to Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi to visit Riyadh. 

Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister arrived in Tehran on Saturday following the steps taken in normalization of relations between the two countries.
