Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian met with Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.

Iran Press/Asia:  Pezeshkian described Iran’s relationship with Russia as "sincere and strategic." the meeting took place on the sidelines of the international conference "Interconnection of Times and Civilizations: The Basis of Peace and Development" in Turkmenistan, marking the 300th anniversary of the poet and philosopher Makhtumquli Faraghi.

The two leaders discussed expanding their countries' ties in economic and cultural sectors.

President Pezeshkian expressed his satisfaction with the opportunity to meet with his Russian counterpart, stating, "Our economic and cultural connections are growing stronger every day."

He emphasized that with the determination of both countries' leaders, the accelerating trend of cooperation between Iran and Russia must continue.

"Iran and Russia have complementary capacities and can greatly support each other," Pezeshkian said, highlighting the close alignment of the two nations' global stances.

He also expressed hope for the swift finalization of a strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia, noting that he looks forward to concluding the deal during the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia.

Addressing the volatile regional situation, Pezeshkian criticized Israel, saying, "The Zionist regime disregards all international legal and human frameworks, and the situation in the region remains critical." He also accused European countries and the United States of opposing peaceful relations among regional nations.

In response, President Putin expressed his pleasure in holding the talks and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Iran. "The development of our relations and the increase in trade volume is progressing very well," Putin remarked.

Putin also extended an invitation to President Pezeshkian to attend the BRICS summit and suggested holding a bilateral meeting during the event.

"We work together on the international stage, and our global assessments and approaches are aligned," the Russian leader added.
