Iran Press/Europe: The decision was made during the 189th Ordinary Meeting of the OPEC Conference, which convened today under the chairmanship of HE Marcel Abeke, Minister of Petroleum of the Gabonese Republic.
The 189th (Ordinary) Meeting of the Conference of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) convened today, 10 December 2024, under the Chairmanship of its President, HE Marcel Abeke, Minister of Petroleum of the Gabonese Republic and Head of its Delegation.
As OPEC's new president, Paknejad will succeed Abeke. In his address to the conference, he highlighted the importance of ongoing cooperation with non-OPEC partners, stating, "We are all acutely aware of the sensitivity and complexity of the current global situation and the necessity of maintaining OPEC's internal unity and cohesion while continuing our engagement with non-OPEC partners under the framework of the Declaration of Cooperation."
Paknejad took this opportunity to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the OPEC and non-OPEC Declaration of Cooperation, asserting that "a solid understanding of this path will serve as a guiding light for our future endeavors."
Concluding his remarks, he pledged, "As President of the OPEC Conference in 2025, I am fully committed to utilizing all my capacities and efforts to strengthen the spirit of cohesion, solidarity, and advancement within our esteemed organization."
