Iran Press/Iran news: The 26th ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) commenced on Sunday morning, being chaired by Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad.
Delivering the inauguration speech of the 26th GECF, Mohsen Paknejad referred to the regional tensions caused by the Israeli regime's aggressions against Gaza and Lebanon, along with the armed groups' movements, and said:
"These territorial tensions and threats not only affect the stability of the region, but also pose significant risks to global energy security, as they disrupt supply chains and jeopardize the reliability and accessibility of critical energy resources for the international community."
Paknejad also highlighted the post-corona increasing demand for energy and the imposition of cross-border sanctions on oil and gas exports by some member countries of the forum and said it caused the fragility of the global economy to be revealed with the jeopardy of energy security.
The Iranian Oil Minister stated that the Islamic Republic has increased its natural gas production to 275 million cubic meters per year, pointing out that by 2050, at least half of the world's energy needs will have been met by using oil and gas resources.
He stressed the cooperation between energy producers and consumers to ensure the stability and security of the world's energy and pave the way for investment in the natural gas sector.
