St.Petersburg (IP): Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani arrived in St.Petersburg on Saturday evening to participate in the Russian Navy Day ceremony.

Iran PressEurope: The defense officials of 21 countries will be present in the ceremony, which will be attended by Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia.

Upon his arrival at the international airport of St. Petersburg, the commander of the Iranian Navy was welcomed by Kazem Jalali, Iran's ambassador to Russia, Brigadier Burzenko, the representative of the Russian Navy commander, and Captain Reza Khosravi-Moghadam, the military attaché of the Iranian embassy.

Rear Admiral Irani told the Iranpress reporter in St. Petersburg that one of the essential missions of the naval forces is maritime diplomacy, which is on the Iranian Navy's agenda.

The commander added that the Iranian Navy will have an active, influential, and successful presence on the high seas.

He is also to meet the commander of the Russian Navy and the commanders of the navies of several Asian and African countries.

Three vessels of the Navy of the Islamic Republic of Iran are going to join the Russian naval drills in the Caspian Sea.
